Gabe Shawn Varges’ expertise lies in the interrelationship of business management, governance, ethics (including corporate culture and compliance), incentives, performance management, sustainability, and law.
He has taught at multiple universities on various continents, including the University of St. Gallen, and publishes regularly in academic and professional journals. He has served on various boards and professional bodies, including as Chairman of Ethics & Compliance Switzerland and President of the Association of Corporate Counsel Europe.
He has been an international executive and served as Head of Governance of the Swiss financial services regulator, FINMA. While at FINMA, he represented the authority on various international taskforces, including at the Financial Stability Board, the OECD, the International Association of Insurance Supervisors, and the Basel Committee on Bank Supervision. He is Chairman of the global consulting firm, the GECN Group, and Senior Partner at HCM International. In his work he advises companies, organizations, and governmental bodies around the world.
