Franklin University Switzerland is proud to announce that Flaviano Capriotti Architetti has been awarded the Architecture MasterPrize Award 2024 in the Educational Building category for their exceptional design of Franklin’s McNeely Center of Ideas & Imagination. This innovative 6,200-square-meter project comprises two distinct structures that blend form, function, and sustainability. The first, a curvilinear volume made of translucent U-glass, houses key community spaces such as an auditorium and a gym. The second structure is a more private block with 29 residential units, featuring a pigmented striped concrete facade.

A standout feature of the McNeely Center of Ideas & Imagination is its dynamic system of white photovoltaic louvers, which track the sun’s orientation, providing shade for the glass facade while generating energy. This reflects the university's commitment to sustainability and innovation in design.

Since its opening, the McNeely Center of Ideas & Imagination has become a vibrant hub on campus. The P. Gregory Warden Student Lounge is a central venue for meetings, ceremonies, and workshops, as well as a space for students to study and unwind. The recent opening of the Pascal Tone Fitness Center and the soon-to-be-opened Rosa, a multipurpose auditorium that can be used to screen films or host performances, add further value, offering new and improved spaces for events and activities that will enhance the Franklin community's experience.
