Please join the Honors Society for a *Learned Conversation* this week *Friday, February 28, at 17:00/5.00pm* - in person, or via zoom. The topic of this week’s event is:
Is It Me or the World?
Resilience vs Polycrisis in an Age of Uncertainty
We are living in a world of many crises — global inequality, economic instability, political polarization, climate change, and public health emergencies. In college textbooks, one deals with these issues separately, chapter by chapter. However, in real life these issues do not just occur independently but intertwine and amplify one another.
This is the essence of what has been called a Polycrisis: a tangled web of interconnected global issues. The Polycrisis presents not just an academic puzzle, but a deeply psychological and personal challenge for everyone.
How do we process the collective and individual uncertainty without becoming overwhelmed? Do crises empower us to act, or do they paralyze us? How can we face these crises with resilience, balancing mental health and meaningful action? How can we, as academics and liberal arts scholars, approach untangling this web of interrelated crises?
How do we balance awareness and agency in a world that feels perpetually on the brink?
Please come and join us to discuss these questions and more in this Learned Conversation, either in person at the *LAC Conference room*, or via *zoom* (for a zoom link, please contact Professor Pyka)
A small reception of food, juice, and wine will follow the discussion.
*Everyone* from the Franklin Community at large is warmly invited to attend, independent of background, Major, or academic standing.
