A Gathering of Tradition and Connection

The Franklin University Switzerland community gathered for an unforgettable evening on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the East Islip, New York home of Molly Hays, Class of 1983. Molly graciously opened her home to alumni, families, and university leaders for a celebration of connection and tradition.

Franklin organized a bus from Manhattan for those coming from the city. The bus arrived at Molly’s just before dusk. Reunion goers were treated to a lovely walk up to the Hays household among trees that were still in their fall colors. After exchanging pleasantries at the door, everyone headed out back to take in the sun setting over the bay.

The event was honored by the presence of Franklin’s co-founder and first president, Trustee Pascal Tone, whose stories of the university’s early days offered a poignant reminder of Franklin’s rich history. Trustees Jennifer Berg ’76 and Lusyd Doolittle ’72 also attended, lending their support to this vibrant community gathering.

President Samuel Martín-Barbero expressed his gratitude to Molly and her husband Roger for hosting the event. He underscored the university’s commitment to fostering global perspectives and lifelong connections among its alumni. Alumni-hosted events like this play a vital role in achieving these goals.

This special reunion was a testament to the enduring bonds that unite Franklin alumni across generations and geographies. From Pascal Tone’s reflections on Franklin’s founding to the vibrant exchanges about its future, the event exemplified the strength and spirit of the Franklin community.

As Franklin University Switzerland celebrates its 55th anniversary this year, events like the East Islip reunion remind us of the importance of staying connected and honoring our shared legacy. Thank you to Molly Hays for her generosity in hosting this memorable evening, and to all who attended for making it such a success.

Let’s continue celebrating this milestone year and building the future of our global Franklin community. Stay tuned for details on upcoming alumni events—we look forward to seeing you there!
