Dear Franklin Community,
Here is the update regarding new restrictions in Switzerland.
As of Monday, January 18, 2021, the following restrictions apply:
- Bars and restaurants are closed. Take-out service remains available until 10pm. North Campus Dining is open! Check out the schedule in the Franklin App!
- Museums, cinemas, libraries, gyms, and sporting facilities are closed.
- Remote working is required wherever possible.
- Gatherings remain limited to 5 people both indoors and outdoors.
- Masks must be worn in all indoor spaces including vehicles with more than 1 person present.
- Stores selling non-essential items are closed with the following exceptions:
- Grocery stores and stores that sell essential goods remain open.
- Pharmacies, telecommunication stores, florists, repair shops, gardening and DIY stores remain open.
- Post offices, banks, travel agencies, hairdressers remain open and must close between 7pm-6am, and on Sundays.
- Items ordered online may be picked-up at the store.
The new regulations mean that classes will begin online and as scheduled on Monday, January 18. For those of you who need to quarantine, there will be no hardship observing the new rules. For everyone else, the new regulations are intended to ensure our collective health and safety. You may still shop at the grocery store, the pharmacy, get a haircut, and enjoy walks outside near the lake. Franklin’s dining services will be open for our community. Remember, the authorities recommend that you stay home when possible. Reduce your social contact and activities. Limit travel to that which is strictly necessary. For students, if you are not feeling well or have questions about your health, please contact Chris Schmid at medical services. These regulations are scheduled to remain in effect through the end of February.
Please remember to wear a mask, social distance, and wash your hands! Together, we can make it through this difficult time.
