Franklin is including an update regarding our health on campus, the latest changes in the federal guidelines, and the current timeline for the vaccine rollout in Ticino.
We have one positive case off campus. The student has not been on campus for several weeks and reports that they are doing well. Unrelated to this case, we have 7 students in quarantine at this time. Effective contact tracing helped to identify these students. While we can confirm that these students were exposed to the virus off campus, we can also confirm that they were not wearing masks when they should have been. Let this serve as a reminder: please wear a mask covering your nose and mouth whenever you are indoors or outdoors with other people. It matters. Likewise, you should make sure to maintain social distancing and wash your hands, per the federal guidelines.
As we announced last week, there is good news beginning today, March 1, 2021.
- Stores, museums, library reading rooms, and outdoor recreational facilities (zoos, gardens, soccer fields have opened again with limited or reduced capacity and masks required). For outdoor sports, up to 5 masked individuals may engage in no-contact activities.
- Outdoor private events may accommodate as many as 15 people.
On campus, that means that while the Tone Athletic Center remains closed, the Grace Library and the WLC are both reopening! You can sign up to reserve your spot on the Moodle site. Social distancing and mask-wearing are required, of course.
Please find here the links to the updated guidelines as well as the current timeline for vaccines here in Ticino. If you have questions about the latter, please contact medical services. Please wear a mask whenever you are indoors and outside where you cannot social distance; avoid travel outside of Switzerland as recommended by the FOPH; and of course, social distance and wash your hands! We need your active support to help our whole community stop the spread of the virus.
A quick update for students from the Office of Career Strategy: Trustee and alumna Jennifer Berg is offering one-on-one mock interviews later in March. Sign up here for this great opportunity as you prepare for your future.
