The evolving situation of the Covid-19 has prompted the Canton of Ticino to declare a “state of emergency". The canton has taken the exceptional measure of closing all secondary schools and institutions of Higher Education, including universities. In compliance with this directive, Franklin University Switzerland suspends classes as of tomorrow, Thursday, March 12, 2020 until Sunday, March 29, 2020.
We have been preparing for this possibility and are putting measures into place to ensure that students can complete their coursework and related academic activities through our regular learning management system. We will resume classes through this system for all students and in compliance with the local directives after Spring break, beginning Monday, March 23.
Business operations will continue as usual and in compliance with the prevention measures defined by the authorities. Additional details for Staff will be forthcoming, but know that your health and safety continue to come first. As we have communicated many times before, we recommend everyone to stay home if sick and practice healthy habits, following these important guidelines. The President’s cabinet is scheduled to meet on Friday March 13. Updates will follow for staff, faculty and students.
Since February, Franklin University Switzerland has adopted a series of measures in line with the indications of the cantonal authorities to protect the academic community and population from the Coronavirus epidemic (virus 2019-nCoV). A working group has been established to monitor the evolution of the situation.
