As announced in Dean Deborah's update last Thursday, we have two confirmed positive COVID cases isolating on campus following post-academic travel testing. Their close contacts have already been notified, and the Cantonal Doctor’s Office does not require we take additional measures at this time. I am happy to report that both individuals are feeling well - we wish them a speedy recovery!
This week we celebrate Switzerland's National Vaccination Week. If you have yet to complete or start your vaccination process, please consider taking that step this week. Many places will have increased access and will not require an appointment. By getting vaccinated you don’t just protect yourself, but also the community and individuals at high risk who cannot get vaccinated. A Swiss COVID Certificate of vaccination can also exempt you from quarantine requirements should you be identified as a close contact. Please contact medicalservices@fus.edu for more information.
Please remember also that students are required to demonstrate proof of vaccination in order to register for and participate in a Spring 2022 Academic Travel outside of Switzerland. Only students with a vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency or a full recovery certificate will be accepted for a travel outside Switzerland.
Students, you are now well into the second half of the semester and its final stretch. As the weather gets colder, remember to keep warm and sign up for your flu shot! If you have not already done, again contact medicalservices@fus.edu.
We encourage you to continue monitoring the development of flu-like symptoms and to go get tested for COVID at a local pharmacy or at Clinica Sant'Anna's urgent care. While we want to limit the potential spread of all viruses, we also want to ensure you can take advantage of Franklin’s in-person learning experience. If after receiving a negative COVID rapid test result your slight symptoms do not prevent you from attending your courses, please go to class in-person. If, however, you do not feel well enough, you should make a request to participate in class online directly to your professor by email as far in advance as possible.
