Why Franklin?
It is said that home is where your heart is. At Franklin, the journey of finding your place in the world is unique. Franklin equips its students with the skills and flexibility to feel comfortable almost anywhere in the world.
The common refrain from FUS graduates is:
- “Franklin changed the trajectory of my life, career, and worldview.”
- “I graduated from Franklin with close friends and contacts from all over the world.”
Our students say that the best part of Franklin is:
The sense of community, unforgettable student-professor interactions, a breathtaking campus, endless opportunities deriving from its central location in Europe, unique academic experiences inside and outside of the classroom, the exposure and integration of student cultures, and a strong global alumni network. Franklin students originate from 60 different countries with our professors and staff from many countries. These and many other attributes are why you should choose Franklin University Switzerland.
Becoming a Franklin student means studying in a global environment while living in the heart of Europe and connecting with people worldwide as a student, not as a tourist. Franklin provides an incredible academic experience that will contribute to your personal and professional growth. Wherever you come from, Franklin will become your home.
Want to expand your world?
At Franklin University Switzerland (FUS), you’ll have a unique set of academic opportunities, starting with our signature program, Academic Travel. Academic Travel blends classroom preparation with the opportunity to study with your professor in a different country for two weeks every semester. That isn’t the only thing that sets us apart. Our professors use real-world experiences to teach the practical skills you’ll need in your career. Franklin hosts industry experts to interactively discuss current and emerging trends. This and our Career office are poised to better prepare our students after graduation.
Our international Faculty and student body provide an immersive environment of cross-cultural perspectives. Every moment spent on campus, whether studying or relaxing, becomes a learning experience. We offer multicultural events, clubs, and activities to help grow your international competence and confidence. What’s more, Franklin offers opportunities for honors students, for students who may need some additional preparation, and for displaced persons needing additional support to begin or continue university study.
As a liberal arts university, Franklin offers more courses in an exciting array of subjects than other international universities. Our core curriculum has a much stronger focus on language and interdisciplinary study. You will have more options in terms of Majors and Minors and you can even customize your own academic plan. FUS has both U.S. and Swiss accreditations, so if you’re only with us for a short time, your credits have a high likelihood of transfer.

Experience the places you study!
If you want to discover more of the world, join us! You’ll learn so much just by studying in the heart of Europe while buying groceries, riding the train, and even sailing on our sparkling Swiss lakes. For most Franklin students, every day brings an opportunity to understand something new about an unfamiliar language, cuisine, or social norm. You’ll also have the support of your peers and dedicated Franklin staff at our small, personal campus. So, don’t just dream about living in Europe, come join us!
Switzerland is the perfect place to enjoy a rich cross-cultural experience. It is a stunning country that speaks multiple languages and has successfully bridged the gaps within its population. It is safe, clean, organized, and on time. While it is not an inexpensive place to live, it is a stable and safe environment (about which) parents feel comfortable.
Franklin housing provides you with privacy and autonomy. You will quickly learn how to manage on a budget and, while university meal plans are offered, many students enjoy learning to cook for themselves in their own kitchens. Before long, you’ll speak enough Italian to shop, buy tickets, and ask for directions around Lugano. By the time you graduate, you’ll feel comfortable in any international setting. It’s no surprise that many of our alumni work in positions that are globally oriented.
